Here at Bishopstone the security of your children is our priority.
We work hard to ensure that nobody can access our building throughout the school day without us seeing them and letting them in. At the same time we always make sure our visitors are welcomed into the school.
We have one main entrance: this entrance has an intercom system with camera – we can always see who we are letting in. If there is no-one in the school office this can be operated from other rooms within the school. There is a second entrance through the school gate in the playground, however that is only accessible at the start and end of the day. We have recently updated (October 2014) our gate system making the school completely secure. They work with a buzzer which is released by the school office or a fob key.
CCTV and intercom system
The gates in the playground are opened at 08.50 and locked again at 09:00 by a member of staff. The gates are then reopened at 15:10 and locked at 15:30. We also have 4 cctv cameras based around the main entrance and within our playground.
Once a visitor has been given access into the school they then need to sign in at the school reception office and be given a visitor pass.
The children take part in termly fire alarm practices with the meeting point being on the village hall car park.
If the fire alarms do go off the fire doors automatically close.
We have fire detectors throughout the school and these are inspected annually to make sure that the school meets all current requirements.
